Titanium Disc Target 99.7% Gr1 Gr2 Gr5 Cold Rolled

These discs are cut from 99.7 percent pure titanium and finished by cold rolling and stamping, so the faces come out flat and parallel without a machining step. The same blank serves as a sputtering target in coating chambers or as a disc for chemical and electrochemical equipment, depending on the grade chosen. Gr1 gives the softest, most corrosion resistant option, Gr2 adds a little strength, and Gr5 (Ti-6Al-4V) covers the higher strength demand.

Why Cold Rolled Stamping

Cold rolling work hardens the sheet and closes surface porosity, which is what a sputtering target needs: a dense grain structure sputters evenly and keeps the arc rate low. Stamping then blanks the disc to the required diameter in one stroke, so the rim stays clean and the thickness varies only within the tolerance of the rolled sheet. Discs can be supplied annealed or in the rolled temper, and edges are deburred before packing.

Applications

The discs are used as PVD sputtering targets for decorative and functional coatings, as cathode plates in electroplating and electrolysis cells, and as corrosion resistant blanks in vacuum salt making, fine chemical reactors, chlor-alkali plants and seawater desalination equipment. Titanium keeps its passive oxide film in chlorides and oxidizing acids, so the disc surface stays stable in these processes.
